Former French President Jacques Chirac, formally alleged that the misuse of public funds when he was mayor of Paris, have been investigated.
This is the second of these events involving former president, who was mayor of the capital from 1977 until his election as president in 1995.
In October he was ordered to trial for alleged false contracts on foot.
The potential sentence for these charges is five years imprisonment and a great number. Mr. Chirac denies misconduct.
Currently there are two demands on from Jacques Chirac.
Both concerns, said his long tenure as mayor of Paris, the center of retired pay as members of the Coalition for the Republican Party (RPR), with funding from the possession of the municipality.
It is alleged that millions of euros have been used to working in the wrong policies of associates and their families.
Chirac complained long innocence and says he is happy to explain their side of the story in court.
Prosecutors said earlier that the limitation for crimes allegedly committed before 1992 expired, and that this happened after the time alleged was sufficient evidence to prosecute.
The BBC’s Hugh Schofield in Paris says that after leaving office, Mr. Chirac has virtually become a popular political veteran.
He said that while the French agree that justice must take its course, few feel the desire for revenge, which Mr. Chirac can not have.
