Israel announces plans about 700 homes in predominantly Arab East
Jerusalem, despite Palestinian and international demands are simple, to
freeze the construction there.
The move follows last month, plans were 900 houses in the territories
occupied in Gilo, south of Jerusalem in the last month.
Israel occupied East Jerusalem in 1967 and later in the Annex, in an
effort to not be recognized internationally.
The Palestinians, who want their future capital in East Jerusalem,
condemned the move.
They said that the plans show that Israel is ready for peace.
Israeli Housing Ministry announced Monday it has invited entrepreneurs to
build 198 apartments in Pisgat Zeev, 377 houses in Neve Yaakov and 117
apartments in Har Homa, which is built on a plot of 1,967 prisoners of
war, Arab-Israeli provide.
It is part of an offer to tender for contracts in excess of 6,500
residential units throughout the country.
The new building will be cheaper and affordable for young families,
according to the Israeli Ministry of Housing.
Last month, Israel announced the suspension of 10 months for new
construction in settlements in the occupied West Bank, under strong
pressure from the United States.
But the right trend of the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin
Netanyahu has, it is clear that there are areas in terms of Jewish
settlements and Jerusalem that the restrictions do not apply here.
The Palestinians have refused to resume peace talks without a full stop
building settlements in the West Bank including East Jerusalem.
In November, US President Barack Obama has warned that Israel plans to
build 900 new homes in Gilo, is in southern Jerusalem, a dangerous
situation for the creation of a lot.
Obama told Fox News that further complicates the construction of Israeli
settlements in the region to make peace, bitter and Palestinians .
The Israeli government every day, proving that it is ready to work for
peace, said Nabil Abu Rdainah, a spokesman for Palestinian Authority
President Mahmoud Abbas.
But Israel says that Jerusalem is part of the eternal and indivisible
capital of Israel.
Israel’s annexation of the eastern city is not recognized by the
international community.
More than 500,000 Israelis live in the West Bank and East Jerusalem,
illegal under international law to the colonies.
