A Vietnamese court sentenced a pro-democracy activist Tran Anh Kim five
years and six months in prison for subversive activities against the
communist state.
The former officer was a member of the Democratic Party of Vietnam and
block 8406 pro-democracy, which is prohibited.
He was accused for publication-democracy articles on the Internet.
Four other activists will be tried for similar offenses in the last round
of dissidents in Vietnam Studies.
A number of other pro-democracy activists have been arrested already this
year, say some analysts, is planning to suppress before the next congress
of the Communist Party in early 2011.
The 60-year-old Kim was arrested in July on charges of propaganda against
the state.
He was later with the serious crime of implementing measures to address
the defendants’ reverse – charges carrying a maximum penalty of death.
I joined the Democratic Party of Vietnam 8406 Coalition and democratic
freedoms and human rights for the people of Vietnam, through peaceful
dialogue and nonviolent means to combat he said.
Journalists were able to cover the trial of four hours on court in the
northern city of Thailand Binh.
Judge Tran Van Loan said Kim had activities, a serious breach of national
security are met. He said he had a Vietnam reactionary and hostile forces
working in exile.
The trial of four other pro-democracy activists – Le Cong Dinh, Tien
Nguyen Trung, Tran Huynh Duy Thuc and the Thang Long – on charges similar
to Ho Chi Minh City on January 20 Start.
